SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Spring Series 2009 April 2, 9, 16, 30 and May 7

ELIGIBILITY Category III yachts or better with additional requirement to have personal lights, (during races that extend into darkness), whistles and radar reflector installed.

START/FINISH LINEBetween the Committee Boat and start/finish buoy offshore of the Des Moines Marina.

COURSE Defined by course designations on Committee Boat. See Section IV, “Marks and Abbreviated Courses”.

SHORTENED COURSE The Race Officer may choose at any time after the start to shorten the course. The Code flag “S” will be displayed with two sound signals on the committee boat. Skippers will then continue to sail the originally posted course, rounding each mark as required until they can lay a course directly to the new finish line and will finish between the Committee boat flying Code Flag “S and its mark.

START TIMESEvening races: First warning 1825 hrWeekend races: First warning 9:25 hr

TIME LIMITThe time limit for the first race of each race day will be three hours after their starting signal.

RACE SCORINGSpring, Summer, Fall and Winter Series are five races. Each series will allow one throw‐out race to be scored for each yacht if at least five races are sailed in that class in the series. On weekends the race committee may chose o run several races.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTION The “Laggard Rule” may be imposed at the option of the Race Committee for race days where multiple races are planned for that day.

SERIES RACE FEE $30.00 per Series.
